Ontario Home Energy Savings Program Announcement
April 21, 2010
The Ontario government has announced that they are going to continue to offer their portion of the grants under Ontario Home Energy Savings Program (HESP) which includes the grants formerly tied to the federal ecoENERGY program. The government will also continue to cover 50% of the cost of home energy audits.
As noted on the Ontario Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure website:
"Due to the sudden nature of the federal announcement to cancel a partnership program, Ontario is reviewing its options to create and deliver effective conservation programs to Ontarians. Until such time a decision is made and notice given, Ontario will continue to fund new pre-retrofit audits. This means we will continue to pay 50% of your home's audit, up to $150. Audits will qualify you for up to $5,000 in provincial retrofit grants".

Update: April 17, 2012
The Home Energy Savings Program (HESP) is now closed to new applications. Audits which were completed before March 31, 2012 may still be eligible for the applicable rebates. As noted on the Ministry of Energy's website:
"As scheduled, the Ontario Home Energy Audit program ended on March 31, 2012. In order to qualify for an audit rebate, you must have completed your home energy audit before March 31, 2012 with a licensed service organization. The Ministry is currently processing outstanding rebates. Please allow 6-8 weeks for your cheque to be processed and mailed to you. If you have not yet received your cheque after this time frame, please call us at 1-888-668-4636 or e-mail to energyaudits@ontario.ca. The Ministry would like to thank you for your participation in this program and for helping conserve energy."
